There have been numerous books and articles that outline the principles programs, factors that are successful and similar factors that result in peak athletic performance. Numerous authors have written extensively on these subjects and in various ways, the concepts and elements are common. The concepts of the progressive resistance, variety, goals-specific training, recovery, etc. are all well-established factors that allow athletes to attain their peak performance in their sports. This article goes further and examines these universal elements in a new light. Through this article I’m hoping to show both coaches and athletes the means to apply these concepts in practice and identify the aspects with greater weightage of attaining success and maximum performances in sport.

  1. Quality Preparation

The work required for every sport season starts with preseason training that is intense. It is not a season that everyone enjoys since the training and work required can be very monotonous and exhausting. But it is imperative that this work be done in order for the athletes to be properly prepared for the competitive stage. The endurance strength, strength, speed, and the skill levels need to be completed. Not just the quantity of work but also how the quality of the pre-training phase is crucial too. If athletes cut corners and train with no hearts and minds, this can manifest during the contest as injuries, fatigue or a lack of vigor on the field. The highest level of performance in sports will not be achieved under these conditions. The quality of preparation for preseason is more crucial when it comes to youth sports.

In most schools, the season of play for various sports begin nearly instantly when the school year begins. When our kids are away for lengthy vacations Our athletes frequently return to compete in events with very little time. Fitness building, team play and mental training are expected to be accomplished in just a few months, but in the sporting world is nearly impossible and not feasible. This type of preparation can be harmful to the growth of our kids. In this situation the coaches and teachers (and parents, if they can) are held to a significant obligation to ensure that athletes are prepared for competing. The training programs for sports need to be designed and put into place at the end of the year before. Our athletes must be aware that their time of preparation began when their tests have been completed. When a training program is in place instructors and coaches will then instruct athletes on an exercise program during the vacations and also. Each athlete should have their own plan in which they make an effort to increase their performance in the time they are off from the school. This could be things like maintaining an appropriate level of fitness by engaging in endurance sports such as running, cycling or playing catch, swimming or throwing a ball in the backyard with their peers, or private practices to enhance specific skills. The most important thing is to maintain and develop what was learned during the previous season to ensure that athletes don’t have to go back to school to begin from scratch. Planning and training in this way will guarantee quality preparation for sports teams to achieve their best performance in the future.

  1. Learning Individual Skills

In every sport and game there are specific capabilities and abilities that are considered to be basic and required. They must be mastered by athletes before they are able to compete at a higher level later. For basketball players, the ability to dribble and performing an appropriate lay-up are essential. Fielding, throwing and catching abilities are essential in softball and baseball. Push-passes and getting a handoff are essential skills for hockey and floor ball. The list continues. When training for preseason, or even at the very beginning of the playing level, these vital skills should be communicated to the young players and every effort and effort must be devoted to mastering these fundamental skills. Without these abilities coaches is likely to have a difficult time to implement more complex team games to attain the highest performances in sport. If strikers can’t even manage a long ball by a teammate and we are not able to expect them to be able to hold the ball in a good position against defenders of the opposition and perform lay-offs to teammates supporting. It is advisable to coach coaches to learn these abilities early, and for players to continue to improve themselves in these abilities even if they think they’re good enough.

Even at the professional level these fundamental abilities for their sport are crucial for optimum performance in sports. The range of skills needed and the intensity with which they are executed at the highest level are significantly more demanding. At the highest levels , where players are evenly matched across all aspects, a single error could lead to winning or losing. It is crucial that professionals be able to master the entire skill set for the sport or game. Only under these conditions will the highest level of performance in sports be achieved.

  1. High Fitness Levels

In high school the majority of athletes will not have achieved their maximum physical potential, regardless of how hard they practice. The physical development of this region in young people is a bit different. Certain kids reach a higher fitness level faster than others, and other body types are able to respond optimally as they age. Therefore, it is thought that a team that has the most fit players will be the one with the biggest advantages. However skilled your opponent is If you’re more fit than your opponent you’ll be in a position to overcome your insufficiency by quickly reacting to your small slip. Let’s sayyou’re being dribbled out by a more skilled adversary in soccer. If you’re fitter than the player who recently dribbled at you, you’ll be able to return in a speed that allows you to defend your spot. This extra fitness advantage for young players is crucial in the latter stages of the game as well because players are likely to become fatigued earlier at this point. A team that is fitter will be more successful and score more points later throughout the course of the game. The players of this age have understand the need to be fit, and be encouraged to try whatever it takes to achieve the best levels of fitness they can attain.

What about professionals? In no doubt professional athletes must have the best fitness levels. If they’re not in good shape, then their opponents are and, consequently, they will surpass them and achieve their highest athletic performance. In general, professional athletes know how to get in good shape and stay that way throughout the season. Their bodies are in good shape to develop to their maximum potential.

  1. Understanding Overall Team Play

The second aspect of vital importance to achieving the best athletic performance is knowing the whole team’s play of the athletes. Imagine a coach instructing his players to clear the ball down the flanks of any offensive game. You’ll be amazed at how few players understand why they’re instructed that they must do so. The majority of the time players just follow the instructions or instructed by coaches. The reasoning behind their actions is usually very minimal. They may not be aware that when they play the ball on the flanks or on the wing, it forces the opposing defense to spread out which leaves more open spaces between the lines for attackers to exploit later. Another advantage statistically is that playing down the flanks typically will result in the attacker receiving the ball back when it gets knocked out bounds. This is the reason you will often see coaches or players instructing their players to throw it across the line’. Young players like the direct path to goals, which often is playing through the middle. When teaching strategies to players, coaches should be sure to explain and ensure that players comprehend the importance of their play. This type of coaching, if executed correctly, will make the players better players and enhances their ability to make decisions on the field. We are continuously looking for better intelligent players to join our team. This will provide the team with an increased chance of reaching the highest level of athletic performance.

  1. Infilling Key Positions of the Team

The fifth element that could result in a high level of athletic performance is selecting the best players to fill the most important positions on teams first. For any team in any sport are likely to have crucial roles that must have filled in first. The point guard of basketball is the main driver for the group. He is the one who controls every play. A centre in ice-hockey plays a the pivot of defense and attack, which is why he should be the strongest, fittest and most competent player. The baseball catcher is the primary player because he dictates and makes the pitches. He is also aware of the whole fielding scenario. These important positions need to be filled first regardless of taking someone out of the position. I used to have an extremely skilled and powerful striker who was a master at scoring goals. However we also had a huge gap in goal-keeping, and he is also the best ball handler within the team. After much negotiation and sacrifices, he changed his position to one of goal-keepers. Through his selfless actions the team performed extremely well and only a handful of goal scored were against us. It was not an easy task to pull off this feat. However, as a coach I was convinced that the goalkeeper was an important player and should not let in any Tom, Dick or Harry player down, so it should be the most effective. This result was the lowest number of dumb mistakes made by our goal-keeping team, and provided the team with a greater chance of winning games. This leads us to the final technical aspect that can determines peak performance in sports making the fewest mistakes.
